CCD/Inca Link Vision Trip to Ecuador
On Monday, June 12th, 2023, a group of 8 pastors and workers from around the district returned from a week-long vision trip to Ecuador.
The purpose of the trip was to refresh a partnership between our district and Inca Link, an organization led by Alliance International Workers Rich and Elisa Brown. Inca Link is a broad and diversified grassroots ministry operating in 26 locations across 8 countries in Central and South America. Their vision is to reach the 300 million youth of Latin America with the Gospel, employing various strategies.
During our time in Ecuador, we had the privilege of visiting three different locations and witnessing the profound impact Inca Link is making in the lives of families and individuals through their ministry sites. It was a jam-packed week, filled with hours spent traveling in vans, cars, and planes. However, the experience was more than worth it as we returned feeling blessed and challenged by the ministries we witnessed and the powerful testimonies of transformed lives.
Despite the fast pace of the trip, we were deeply impacted by what we saw and experienced. We were fortunate to have Rich & Lisa travel with us, and as we debriefed each evening, we could clearly see God's Spirit moving and working in each of us. We were pushed outside of our comfort zones, but moments like visiting the garbage dump ministry provided us with a privileged window into how the love of Jesus is changing the lives of those who are forgotten and shunned by society in the coastal region community.
We also spent time with Bible school students in the jungle, witnessing the testimony of God's power to change lives and call people into service. This experience challenged us to rethink how our Canadian churches can reach into our communities in transformative ways. We engaged in village outreach, learned about after-school programs in the coastal city, and witnessed a sports ministry in the capital city.
Words alone cannot express the depth of our experiences during these impactful six days. However, any one of us would be delighted to share more about our journey if asked. This is just the beginning of a relational journey, and we envision many of our churches joining us to see what God is doing through the ministries of Inca Link.
